Jennifer D. English, M.S., N.D. is an instructor and consultant in sustainable and healthy lifestyles, Permaculture design and yoga. She has an N.D. in Traditional Naturopathy and a M.S. in Natural Health, a BA in Cultural Anthropology and Environmental Studies, a Diploma in Wildlife Management, a Post Graduate Diploma in Integrative Eco-Social Design, and 14 years experience leading projects and non-profits in the alternative health and environmental sectors. Jennifer is the Director of the Center for a Holistic Ecology, and co-founder of Solar Springs Research Farm.

Matthew English is a bamboo artisan and farmer. He has spent the last 12 years studying bamboo cultivation and utilization (from crafts to construction), natural building, Permaculture and other ecological land-use systems. He is establishing a small-scale bamboo plantation and agroforestry system and offers consulting and workshops in the multitude of appropriate technologies represented at Solar Springs. He has been teaching professionally for seven years. Matthew is the founder of Solar Springs Research Farm and the inspiration behind many of the Center for a Holistic Ecology’s programs.

Valerie Seitz, M.S. is an urban designer, architect, researcher, and teacher on topics of sustainable settlements and building. She has a Masters of Science in Architecture degree and has served on the Faculty of Architecture within the Department of Sustainable Technology and Design for Delft University of Technology in the Netherlands. She has lived in and designed experimental communities in The Netherlands, including the Delft Ecological City. Valerie is CHE’s international liaison for the Gaia SEUS project and Gaia University International.

Tami Brunk, M.S. is a freelance writer and permaculture designer. She holds a B.A. in Biology from the University of Missouri-Columbia and an M.S. in Environmental Writing from the University of Montana-Missoula. Her writing profiles leading-edge individuals, projects, and trends bringing in a hopeful future for our planet. She is the International Coordinator of the Marda Permaculture Farm in the West Bank of Palestine.

Jason Deptula Jason Deptula is the facilities manager and an alternative energy instructor at the Ecovillage Training Center (ETC). As a proud member of The Farm Community where the ETC is based, he is a self-proclaimed “tie-dyed in the wool hippie and optimist.” He was the first person in the area to convert his vehicle to run on waste vegetable oil—and has since trained hundreds of others to convert their own. He stays busy researching, consulting, and experimenting with various clean energy solutions, and promotes putting the “bio” back in biofuels.
